Just so you'll know, Amano didn'...Hi Wendy,

Just so you'll know, Amano didn't do the designs for Jun, Katse, or Nambu. All of the main characters for "Gatchaman" were designed by Tatsuo Yoshida. For the original "Gatchaman," all Amano did was design guest characters.

The myth that Amano created those three characters stems from the Amano art book "Imagine," which included a lot of artwork Amano did for Tatsunoko. In a section focusing on the various Tatsunoko shows he worked on, the Gatchaman portion is illustrated by images of Jun, Katse, and Nambu, but these are merely examples of characters from the series, not examples of characters Amano designed.

For proof of this, look no further than the interview Amano gave for the DVD release of the "Gatchaman" movie. Pretty much the first thing he says is that Yoshida did the main characters, and he only did guest characters.Jamesnoreply@blogger.com
